* The Ashram Dining Room, north of Government Place, has non-oily and non-spicy food. You need to buy three meal tickets at the Park Guest House. There is a vegetarian restaurant in the Park Guest House, at the south end of Goubert Salai.
* Seaside Guest House, Goubert Salai, near the light house, has a very good vegetarian restaurant.
* Picnic, Kamaraj Salai, is a vegetarian place.
* Ram International, near the Botanical Gardens, has a good, cheap vegetarian restaurant.
* Seagulls Restaurant, 19 Dumas St, on the sea-front, has good food. It is a rooftop restaurant serving Indian, Italian and Chinese.
* Aristo, Nehru St, is a good rooftop restaurant serving Indian and Western food.
* Le Club, 38 Dumas St, is a good French restaurant with excellent service and a good design. main dish is around Rs 150. Open 7.30 to 9.30 am, noon to 2 pm and 7 to 10 pm. In the garden is a tandoori restaurant.
* Blue Dragon Restaurant, 33 Dumas St, has antique furniture and good Chinese food.
* Le Rendezvous, 30 Suffren St, has a French design with tablecloths, wicker chairs and shutters and it has a nice terrace area. It has very good French, Chinese and Indian food and pizzas. Main dishes are around Rs 100. Open 8 to 11 am, noon to 3 pm and 6 to 10.30 pm.
* Satsanga, next door on Suffren St, has very good French food, pizza, cheese, and Italian salads (closed Thursday). Main dishes are around Rs 75. It has a nice atmosphere and the service is good.
* China Town, Suffren St, has good Chinese food.
* Bar Qualithé Hotel, Labourdonnais St, next to Government Square, has atmosphere. Main dishes are around Rs 40.
* Le Café, Goubert Salai, near the seashore, has good snacks and ice cream.
* In the west side of town is the Indian Coffee House, Nehru St, which has good snacks and breakfasts.
* There is a popular rooftop restaurant at the Hotel Aristo. They also have a ground floor restaurant (closed Fri). Everything is made to order, so it takes a while.
*Anugraha, in the Hotel Surguru, SV Patel Salai, is a very popular vegetarian restaurant. It has very good North Indian, South Indian, Western and Chinese dishes. Open 9 am to 10 pm. It is not cheap.
* Surabhi, in the Anandha Inn, SV Patel Salai, is a veg restaurant serving Indian and Continental dishes. There are candles and flowers on the tables.
* Fortune Bakery, 13/9 St Therese, near Nehru St, has good cakes and bread.
* Anjappar Restaurant, 5 vallalar salai, 45 feet road, is a non-veg restaurant . They serves chettinadu & chinese dishes.
* Hotel Kamachi, 100 feet road, opp to Hasan Honda show room, Veg as well as non veg foods available. But the speciality of this restaurant is they serve lunch only. Timing is 11 am to 4 pm.
